Mrs Meintjies responded to the advertisement in the Sunday Times on 30/01/2000 regarding the complimenting members of the SAPS that have gone an extra mile in performing their official duties.

Mrs Meintjies continued that with all the negative publicity that the SAPS receives, the effort of those police officers that go the extra mile is lost in between.  Mrs Meintjies believes that the SAPS personnel should receive higher salaries for the risk that their lives are in when performing their duties.

Mrs Meintjies wishes that she could send a message to the members of the SAPS to encourage them in their jobs.  The media places too much emphasis on the negative cases where SAPS personnel are involved.  Mrs Meintjies suggested that the media should spend more time on uplifting the morale of the SAPS.
