Media Alert 2 June 2004 Africa Editor Fax: (011) 886 4424 Att: Bernadette Cook RE: ENQUIRY ON ALLEGED POLICE CORRUPTION AND TORTURE The Independent Complaints Directorate (ICD) wishes to inform that it is investigating allegations of corruption and torture against members of Serious and Violent Crimes Middelburg. We have taken over the case docket which was initially investigated by SAPS Middelburg. After finalization of our investigation we will forward the case docket to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for a decision on prosecution. Our investigation continues. Steve Mabona
