RE: ENQUIRY ON DEATHS IN POLICE CUSTODY OR AS A RESULT OF POLICE ACTION
Anthony Jacobs
- The ICD wishes to confirm that in has conducted an investigation in circumstances surrounding the death of Anthony Jacobs. We have finalized our investigation and as such a case docket has being forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) In January 2004 for a decision on prosecution.
- The family (Mother) of the deceased has been in telephonic contact with the ICD.
- The member was dismissed from the City Police in March 2004.
Fabian May
- We are still investigating circumstances surrounding the death of Fabian May.
- The ICD cannot suspend officers but only recommend same.
- The ICD investigates any involvement of SAPS and MPS in criminality or misconduct and as such we cannot make any recommendations regarding civilians.
- The family visited the ICD and contacted the investigating officer. Outstanding witness statements will be obtained accordingly.
