SAPS CONSTABLE APPEARS IN COURT FOR RAPE: KwaMashu CAS 99/07/2010

A Kokstad stationed SAPS Constable Lungelolakhe Ronald Nkabinde has been arrested for Rape after an ICD investigation.

It is alleged that on 03 July 2010 the suspect, Constable Nkabinde, kidnapped his ex-girlfriend after they had attended funeral. He later took her to a back room at a nearby tavern where he repeatedly raped her.

Upon her release, the victim went to the police station where she reported a case of rape against the Constable.

The Independent Complaints Directorate took over the docket from SAPS for further investigation. ICD conducted an investigation which resulted in the arrest today, 10 August 2010 of the suspect, Constable Lungelolakhe Ronald Nkabinde. The suspect appeared briefly at the Verulam Magistrates Court where the case was remanded until 17 August 2010 for a formal bail application.
